Big 3, UDMF holding talks at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU, Feb 12: A meeting between the three major parties and the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) is underway at the prime minister's official residence in Baluwatar on Friday.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has summoned this meeting in a bid to forge consensus among the agitating Madhesi parties prior to his official visit to India.


PM Oli is leaving for India on a five-day official visit starting February 19. The meeting is focused on Oli's upcoming India visit and the contemporary political issues including the formation for a political body, Bishnu Rimal, political advisor to the prime minister, told Republica.

The to-be-formed political body will suggest a solution for the demarcation of the provinces what Madhesi parties call the bottom-line of their agendas.

Mahesh Acharya, Krishna Bahadur Mahara from the government side and Hridayesh Tripathi, Laxman Lal Karna and Ram Naresh Raya representing the UDMF are in the meeting.
