East-west Highway closed in less than 10 hours of its operation

JANAKPUR, Feb 12: East-West Highway, which reopened Wednesday after closing for about 10 days, was shut down again at Nawalpur section of the highway Thursday morning.

People at Nawalpur shut down the Mahendra Highway demanding that the Integrated Administrative Service Center (IASC) be established in Nawalpur.


All-party meetings in Mahottari, Sarlahi and Bara on Wednesday had decided to set up the service centre at Harioun of Sarlahi, thereby resuming the traffic movement after 10 days of its closure.

However, demonstration was organized at Nawalpur to protest the all-party decision. Hundreds of passengers have been stranded due to the closure.
