Probe committee on Kailali incident formed

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: The government has formed a five-member probe committee to investigate into the brutal killing of police personnel by agitators in Kailali district on Monday.

A cabinet meeting held at Baluwatar Tuesday formed the probe committee headed by former chief of National Investigation Department (NIA) Devi Ram Sharma, informed Ministry of Youth and Sports Purushottam Paudel.AIG of Nepal Police Pratab Singh, AIG of Armed Police Force Jeevan Thapa, Joint-secretary of Home Ministry Binod KC and deputy director of NIA Ganesh Adhikari are other members of the committee.

A minster said Deputy Prime Minister Bam Dev Gautam briefed the cabinet about the incident and latest situation there.

The minister also informed that the committee will also probe security lapses that occurred while the incident happened. Likewise, the cabinet also decided to promote the deceased security personnel to immediate higher post.
