KATHMANDU, March 4: Rambha Devi, a lawmaker of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Nepal, has refuted a news report published in Republica linking her name to the misuse of red passport.
The lawmaker who visited Republica´s office Friday along with her red passport, issued on July 22, 2010, said she has yet to obtain a visa for any country.
"I am surprised how my name got linked to the red passport scam," she said. [break]
Rambha Devi said her passport (021222) is safe in her possession since it was issued and that she intends to submit it to the foreign ministry soon.
The February 27 edition of Republica had carried an article that linked additional three lawmakers, including Rambha Devi of MPRF, to red passport misuse.
Earlier, police had discovered that lawmakers Gayatri Sah, of Nepali Janata Dal, and BP Yadav, of MPRF, were involved in the misuse of red passport.
Lawmaker Rambha Devi represents the MPRF-N from Rautahat district. Her husband Rameshwar Prasad Yadav and the MPRF-N Central Committee member Ram Bilash Yadav accompanied Rambha Devi to Republica office.
