KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Institute of Medicine (IOM) Dean Rakesh Shrivastav has resigned from his post on Friday.

On Wednesday, Shrivastav had tendered his resignation letter citing his health problem at the TU Executive Council which was approved yesterday, informed Vice Chancellor (VC) Tirtha Khaniya.

According to a source, Shrivastav resigned from the post following  the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) not to implement the government's decision on qualification and tuition fee of MBBS admission.

The then government had appointed him as Dean on February 13, 2014 following Govinda KC's sit-in staged calling for a massive overhaul in the IOM.

TU Executive Council has appointed Assistant Dean Bimal Sinha as an acting Dean.
