KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Ten posts of elected local-level representatives have remained vacant after the representatives joined other political parties, according to the Election Commission (EC).
Issuing a notice on Wednesday, the EC said four posts in Madhesh Province, three in Koshi Province, two in Bagmati Province and one in Sudurpaschim Province have remained vacant.
In Madhesh Province, the posts of ward chairperson of Shahidnagar Municipality-5 in Dhanusha, ward chairperson of Bideha Municipality-6, ward chairperson of Kamala Municipality-5 and ward chairperson of Mithila Municipality-2 are vacant.

Similarly, in Koshi Province, the posts of ward chairperson of Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality-3, vice-chairperson of Barahpokhari Rural Municipality in Khotang and chairperson of Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality-5 in Morang have remained vacant.
In Bagmati Province, the ward chairperson of Jiri Municipality-6 and the chairperson of Jiri Municipality-3 in Dolakha have joined other political parties, leaving their posts vacant.
According to the EC, the post of vice-chairperson of Bardagoriya Rural Municipality in Kailali, Sudurpaschim Province, is also vacant.
The EC said it received decisions from the central committees of the concerned political parties regarding elected representatives who joined other political parties after being elected in the 2079 BS local-level elections. The representatives had been elected from various political parties, including the then CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist).
The EC said the notice was published for the information of all concerned in accordance with Rule 22(2) of the Political Parties Regulations, 2074 BS.
