BIRENDRANAGAR, July 2: A microbus en route to Kalikot from Surkhet plunged into the Karnali River at around 11:30 am on Thursday, triggering a large-scale rescue operation.
The vehicle, bearing registration number Ka Pra 02-001 Kha 1055, met with the accident in the Sangetara area of Chamundabindrashaini Municipality-7 along the Karnali Highway.
A police rescue team led by an inspector rushed to the scene with rescue equipment after receiving information about the accident.

According to preliminary reports, the microbus veered off the road, plunged about 400 meters down a slope and fell into the river.
During the rescue operation, rescuers located an unidentified man. Efforts are underway to bring him to the roadside, while his identity and address have yet to be established.
Police personnel, along with local residents, have been mobilized at the site, and rescue efforts are continuing at full scale.
The accident site is located about 50 kilometers west of the District Police Office (DPO), Dailekh.
According to Chief of the DPO, Superintendent of Police Shrawan Kumar BK, the cause of the accident, the number of passengers on board and the extent of casualties have yet to be ascertained.
