KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Nepal and Senegal have officially established diplomatic relations.
The milestone was marked today after Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal and Senegalese Foreign Minister Sheikh Niang, who are both attending the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, signed a joint statement formalizing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to the Foreign Minister’s Private Secretariat, the two ministers held a meeting prior to the signing and exchanged views on various matters of mutual interest.
With the establishment of diplomatic relations with Senegal, Nepal’s diplomatic ties now extend to 188 countries.
