CHITWAN, Sept 27: Rising water levels in rivers and streams have flooded several settlements in Chitwan following continuous rainfall, affecting dozens of households and disrupting road connections.
According to the District Police Office, water from the Narayani River and local streams has entered settlements in several areas, while flooding has also blocked roads.
Water levels rose in the Pampa, Rapti, Kayer and Ladari rivers in eastern Chitwan on Sunday. The Narayani River also entered settlements in Gumbachaur-Jhanjhane of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-16 and several areas of wards 17 and 1.

Authorities evacuated 11 households from the affected areas to a nearby school. In Madi Municipality-1, police said they moved residents of 35 households to relatives’ homes.
Floodwaters also submerged rest houses, huts, temples and shops in Devghat, Bharatpur-1.
In Madi-1, rising water in the Riu River entered the Seruwa, Amiliya and Chandrapuri settlements. Authorities moved 10 households to a local school for safety.
The rising water level also disrupted the Bharatpur-Madi-Thori road in another part of the ward.
In Madi-9, floodwaters entered the Pyauli settlement, prompting authorities to relocate 13 people from four households to Shanti Mandali Church. Similarly, 70 people from 11 households in Madi-8 were moved to Magar Homestay after water began entering the settlement.
Meanwhile, the Narayani River continues to rise. Its water level reached 11.58 metres by 11 am Sunday, well above the danger level of 9 metres.
Flooding has also affected settlements across the Narayani in Gaindakot, where authorities have relocated residents of 10 households.
