KATHMANDU, Dec 5: The quake-damaged school building of Sita Devi Lower Secondary School at Batashe in Sindhupalchowk district has received a new nine-roomed building, thanks to the financial assistance provided by the foreign tourists.
The school building which also has four separate rooms for toilets was built at a cost of Rs 2.6 millions that was provided through the Himalaya Peace Education Foundation.
The building was recently handed over to the School amid a programme.
The French, American, Austrian, Latvian and Swiss tourists, who visited the quake-damaged school during travel to Nepal, raised the fund among themselves, collected the amount and sent through the Foundation, according to Foundation's President Rajendra Bahadur Lama.
French organizations as the Himal Pyramis and Club Alpin de Strasbourg contributed to this cause while Casper Duering and his friends from Switzerland joined this initiative.
Similarly, Mark Fister and Rich Carlson from the USA, Ints Murnieks from Latvia and Stephern Kech from Austria have also provided the aid for the reconstruction.
There are altogether 186 students currently studying in the school. RSS
