KATHMANDU, July 5: The government has begun taking action against employees who occupy sanctioned posts without reporting to work, with two staff members of the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) dismissed for prolonged unauthorized absence.
Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary, who also chairs NARC, said the action was taken against Technical Officer Parbati Joshi of the Agricultural Research Directorate in Tarahara, Sunsari, and Scientist Namita Bhattarai of the National Biotechnology Research Centre in Khumaltar, Lalitpur.

The two were dismissed under the Employees Administration Regulations, 2062, effective from the date they became absent.
Before the dismissal, NARC had sent notices to their registered addresses and published a seven-day public notice in a national daily asking them to report for duty. They failed to respond within the stipulated period, following which the council's executive committee decided to terminate their services.
Minister Chaudhary said similar action would be extended to other departments and agencies under the ministry, warning that employees who continue to occupy positions without performing their duties would no longer be spared.
