Earlier, the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration had formed a report implementation committee coordinated by Chief Survey Officer Ramesh Gyawali, according to Pratibha Rawal, secretariat member of the Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration.
The committee includes under-secretaries from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport; chiefs of the respective land revenue and survey offices; the chief of the local-level coordination section; an officer from the Department of Land Management and Archive; and a survey officer from the Survey Department, who serves as the member-secretary.
The Rawal Commission, chaired by then-government secretary Ram Bahadur Rawal, had studied the status of government and public land in 2052 BS and submitted a report recommending measures to protect land, particularly plots that had been encroached upon or registered in the names of individuals.
The government took a long time to begin implementing the report.
