KATHMANDU, June 19: The weather today will remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim Provinces, as well as in the Tarai region of Koshi Province.
Partly cloudy conditions are likely over the hilly region of Lumbini Province and the Tarai region of Madhesh Province, while the weather in the remaining Tarai regions is expected to remain mainly fair, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM).
There is a possibility of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces. There is also a possibility of moderate rainfall at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim Provinces, according to the DHM.
Heavy rainfall likely in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini
Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the Tarai regions of Koshi Province and at one or two places in Madhesh Province. Heatwave conditions are likely at some places in the Tarai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim Provinces, while hot day conditions are also likely at some places in the Tarai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.
Later tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces. The weather will be partly cloudy in other mountainous and hilly regions as well as in the Tarai region of Koshi Province, and mainly clear in other Tarai regions.
There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain and snowfall at a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces and at one or two places in the mountainous region of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning at a few places in the Tarai region of Koshi Province.
Meteorological Analysis by the DHM says that at present, Nepal is under the partial influence of a western trough in the upper atmosphere, along with local winds and easterly winds.
