He said issues raised during the general convention will continue to be flagged within the framework of the party statute and legal boundaries. These include party restructuring, leadership transfer, party building based on People’s Multi-Party Democracy, and internal democratization.
Bhattarai urged party members not to feel discouraged, stating that the group accepted the election results in good spirit as part of democratic competition.
At the same time, he said serious questions were raised about democratic practices within the party, from the selection of delegates to the conduct of the closed session. He expressed concern over the misuse of party structures and attempts to weaken internal democracy through bodies such as the Organization Department.
The Pokharel group also said it would closely review the agenda and decisions of the upcoming Central Committee meeting. Bhattarai said positive proposals brought by party chair KP Sharma Oli would be supported. He warned that any proposal that weakens party unity, shows bias, promotes factionalism, causes division, or favors individuals would be resisted from within the party.
Reaffirming commitment to work for the party’s victory in external contests, including upcoming elections, Bhattarai repeated dissatisfaction with Chair Oli’s working style.
He said there has been no sign of change in the chair’s approach in the past, present, or foreseeable future. He added that raising voices against ideological and practical inconsistencies will continue.
