KATHMANDU, Sept 3: A total of 1,252 bodies had been recovered as of 10 am Thursday following the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, according to Nepal Police.
Of the recovered bodies, 127 were found in Rasuwa, 177 in Nuwakot, 60 in Dhading, 355 in Chitwan, 69 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 218 in Nawalparasi East and 190 in Nawalparasi West. Another 18 bodies were found in India and handed over to Nawalparasi West, bringing the total to 1,252.
So far, 95 bodies have been handed over to their families.

Nepal Police said DNA samples have been collected from the recovered bodies and other necessary procedures completed for identification. A total of 897 bodies have so far been managed and securely buried, including 213 women, 314 men and 370 whose sex could not be determined.
Details of 959 unidentified bodies have also been uploaded to the Nepal Police website to facilitate identification.
A total of 7,912 police personnel have so far been deployed for rescue, search operations, relief distribution and management of bodies in the flood-affected areas.
Police are continuing the search for 4,875 people reported missing in the floods. Meanwhile, 3,126 people are currently staying at holding centers in various districts.
Police are also relocating families in flood-risk areas to safer locations, carrying out rescue and search operations in coordination with various agencies and local residents, and clearing road obstructions at different locations.
