CHITWAN, March 7: Riding on a massive electoral mandate, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane has pledged that his party will move ahead responsibly while fulfilling the commitments it made to citizens.
Lamichhane, who was elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Chitwan Constituency–2 with 54,402 votes, said the verdict of the people had placed a significant responsibility on his party. Speaking to journalists after receiving his certificate of election from the Election Office, Lamichhane said the RSP would advance cautiously and with a sense of accountability in the days ahead.
“We trust journalist Rabi Lamichhane but not Home Minister Rabi...
“The road ahead is not easy, but it is not impossible either. We will move forward with prudence and wisdom—not with arrogance or panic,” he said, acknowledging the scale of expectations from voters.
Lamichhane said he was well aware of the aspirations of citizens who had placed their trust in the relatively new political force. He pledged that the party would work inclusively and remain engaged in dialogue with the public on the issues that matter most to them.
At the same time, he cautioned that failure to deliver on public expectations could lead the party down the same path as some of the established parties that voters have increasingly grown disillusioned with.
Reflecting on the sweeping support the party has received, Lamichhane also called on his supporters to remain humble in victory. He urged party workers not to become overly excited or behave disrespectfully toward those with different political views. “We respect those who hold different opinions. No one should be targeted or mistreated,” he said, reminding supporters that political competition should never undermine mutual respect in society.
