20th Asian Games: Judo player Punam eliminated

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Nepal’s judo player Punam Shrestha has been eliminated from the 20th Asian Games being held in Japan.



Punam was defeated by an Indian player in the women’s under-70kg category at the Aichi International Arena on Wednesday.

With Punam’s elimination, Nepal has now been knocked out of five of the seven judo categories in which it is competing.


Four Nepali judokas were eliminated in the first round on Wednesday. Sujan Gurung is competing in the men’s under-90kg category today.


Nepal will also compete in the mixed team event.
