KATHMANDU, Dec 9: The Embassy of India in Nepal, in collaboration with Lumbini Development Trust and Lumbini Buddhist University, held the third India-Nepal Cultural Festival in Lumbini on Monday, celebrating the shared cultural heritage of both nations with a focus on Buddhism.
The event was inaugurated by Krishna Bahadur Gharti Magar, Governor of Lumbini Province; Munu Mahawar, Additional Secretary (North), Ministry of External Affairs, India; Dr. Lharkyal Lama, Vice Chairman of Lumbini Development Trust; and Dr. Rakesh Pandey, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Kathmandu. Civil society members, academics, senior monks, and representatives of the Lumbini Development Trust attended, according to a press release from the Embassy.

The festival featured performances by Indian and Nepali artists, including a Buddhist-themed Odissi dance by a six-member ICCR troupe led by Sandhya Kunjan Menon Das, and concluded with a traditional musical performance by Nepali band ‘Ghugu Mugu’.
A seminar titled “India-Nepal Buddhist Heritage: A Common Legacy” at Lumbini Buddhist University brought together scholars from both countries to highlight the role of Buddhist heritage in strengthening cultural ties, the press statement read.
The embassy said the festival reaffirmed enduring India-Nepal cultural and historical bonds and the importance of continued collaboration.
