KATHMANDU, Sept 12: With cooking gas supplies disrupted in Kathmandu, LPG entrepreneurs have committed to bringing 50,000 cylinders to the capital to ease the shortage.
The commitment was made during a meeting between Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Deepak Kumar Sah and Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) entrepreneurs and other stakeholders on Friday. The meeting discussed measures to restore regular supplies and alternative arrangements to address the immediate shortage.
Expiry date of LPG cylinders lacks monitoring
Kathmandu consumes around 40,000 LPG cylinders a day, according to the Ministry. Against this backdrop, gas entrepreneurs have pledged to bring 50,000 cylinders to the capital to help ease the supply crunch.
The Ministry said the disruption occurred after a landslide at Krishnabhir blocked the road from August 30, preventing LPG tankers from reaching Kathmandu.
The Ministry said efforts were being made to improve coordination among concerned stakeholders and explore alternative arrangements to ensure a smooth supply of cooking gas in the capital.
