DADELDHURA, July 3: At least eight persons were killed and 27 others injured when a passenger bus they were traveling on skidded off the road and fell some 300 meter down at Bagaura of Gwani VDC in Darchula district on Tuesday morning.
Laxmi Dutta Joshi, 40, a district committee member of CPN-UML of Sarmoli VDC, Dhawal Singh Dhami of Gwani VDC, Amit Kumar Pandit, 35 of Khajura-3, Darchula, Hira Devi Bhatta, 28 of Bhagwati-9 and Singh Dhami, 8 of Jhalari-9, Kanchanpur have been identified so far, informed Darchula Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dev Bahadur Bogati. However, identities of the rest of the deceased and injured are yet to be ascertained.
The injured are being ferried to Dadeldhura Team Hospital for treatment.
According to Police Inspector Shyam Bahadur Saut, the bus is stuck some 300 meters down on a cliff.
The bus (Na 4 Kha 6608) en-route to Darchula from Dhangadi met with the accident around 4 am this morning.
