GORKHA, March 7: All ballot boxes from the remote Chumnubri Rural Municipality in northern Gorkha, under Gorkha Constituency No. 1, have been safely transported to the district headquarters, paving the way for vote counting to begin.

This morning, ballot boxes from the remaining 14 polling centers were airlifted to the district headquarters by a Nepali Army helicopter, said Assistant Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma.

The ballot boxes from Ward No. 2 Lho, Ward No. 3 Siridibas, Ward No. 4 Prok, and Ward No. 5 Bihi of Chumnubri Rural Municipality were brought earlier in the morning. Due to difficult terrain and geographical remoteness, ballot boxes from all 23 polling centers in Chumnubri had to be transported by helicopter.

“The ballot boxes were supposed to be transported yesterday, but it could not be done due to bad weather,” he said. “This morning, as the weather cleared, the army helicopter brought all remaining ballot boxes to the district headquarters.”

Earlier on Friday, the Army helicopter had transported ballot boxes from nine polling centers.
