Army will take on the winner of the second semifinal to be played between Manang Marshyangdi Club and Sahara Club on Thursday for Saturday's title clash.
Tanka put Army ahead in the 28th minute and Bal Krishna sealed the victory during the stoppage time of the match. An unmarked Tanka smashed a powerful shot from the zone after he collected a corner of Santosh Tamang.
Army came up with offensive style of play and was finally rewarded during the stoppage time. Bal Krishna ensured the victory in the seventh minute of stoppage time after he headed a corner, again taken by Tanka, to finish with 2-0 score.
Home team goalkeeper Ashok Baral made some brilliant saves during the first half to deny Bharat Khawas and Santosh. Ashok also denied Bharat's header in the 65th minute from the six yards besides preventing him in the 80th minute as well.
Meanwhile, Hetauda's African defender was rushed to the hospital after he picked a nose injury in the 77th minute in his bid to head the ball inside the zone.
Army coach Meghraj KC opined that his side created frequent chances but failed to utilize them. Adding that a number of his players were injured, he shall field national players including Nawayug Shrestha and Bikesh Kuthu in the final. The duo just returned home on Wednesday after winning gold medal in the 12th South Asian Games football. Hetauda's coach Bijay Lal Shrestha rued on missed chances and expressed satisfaction toward his team's performance.
The tournament is being organized in the memory of late sports journalist Suman Bhomjan, a local of Hetauda, who died during the April 25 earthquake in Kathmandu last year. The winner and runner-up teams will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs 300,000 and Rs 150,000 respectively.
