KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has expressed solidarity with Nepal as the country continues to recover from catastrophic floods and widespread devastation.
Albanese said he conveyed Australia’s deepest sympathies to those affected by the disaster during his meeting with Prime Minister Balendra Shah at the United Nations in New York on Thursday.
“Meeting with Prime Minister Balen Shah at the United Nations today, I offered Australia’s deepest sympathies to those affected and detailed Australia’s aid efforts so far,” Albanese said in a social media post, sharing photographs of his meeting with Shah.

He said Australia would continue working with Nepal to ensure assistance reaches those who need it most.
Albanese also expressed concern for Australians who remain missing following the disaster.
“Our thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of those Australians who are still missing,” he said.
“We’ll keep working with Nepal to get help where it’s needed most,” he added.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
