KATHMANDU, June 24: Biratnagar Metropolitan City has announced a budget of Rs 3.56 billion for the upcoming Fiscal Year (FY) 2026/27.
Rendering more priority to infrastructure development, the metropolis has allocated Rs 1.60 billion for this purpose. Similarly, Rs 600 million has been allocated for municipal level programs, Rs 435.63 million for ward level programs and Rs 150 million for multi-year pride projects. Similarly, Rs 100 million has been allocated for maintenance and Rs 260 million for wastewater treatment.
What is missing in budget for agriculture?
Similarly, Rs 265 million has been allocated for social development. Out of which Rs 100.92 million has been allocated for education and Rs 73.90 million for health.
Of the total revenue generation planned for the next FY, Rs 334.3 million is expected to be received from the federal government's fiscal equalization grant, Rs 732.9 million from conditional current grant, and Rs 5.6 million from conditional capital grant.
Similarly, the metropolis estimates that it will receive Rs 36.25 million from the provincial government's fiscal equalization grant, Rs 412.2 million from conditional current grant, and Rs 66.3 million from conditional capital.
In the internal revenue mobilization, the metropolis has targeted to mobilize Rs 1.27 billion from internal income, Rs 925.6 million from revenue sharing, Rs 140 million from bank balance, and Rs 11.6 million from grants by various organizations.
