Central zoo closed indefinitely after bird flu case detection

KATHMANDU, June 19: The Central Zoo has been closed indefinitely after cases of bird flu were detected among animals inside the premises.



The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) issued a notice on Friday announcing the closure until further notice, citing public health safety concerns.

“The Central Zoo has been closed from today, 5 Asar, until further notice as bird flu infection has been detected among animals within the zoo premises. This is to ensure the safety of the general public,” the notice stated.


The notice did not specify which animals have been infected.


The zoo will remain closed until further instructions are issued by the authorities.
