KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Rohan Sippy, the producer of Hindi movie Chandni Chowk to China, has unconditionally apologized to the Nepali people for the false statement in his film that led to the banning of the movie in Nepal.

"In one scene of Chandni Chowk to China, it has been mentioned that Buddha was born in India, a statement that has been deemed false in Nepal. It was never our intention to hurt the sentiments of the people of Nepal, or anyone else for that matter. We would like to unconditionally apologize for any offence caused due to our error," Sippy was quoted as saying by Bollywood Hangama, an entertainment website, Friday.

The much-awaited film was banned in Nepal after students protested the screening of the movie in Jai Nepal cinema, Kathmandu as the original movie had a dialogue saying Buddha was born in India. The scene was, however, deleted from the versions screened in Nepal.
