A team of Nepali officials led by Mustang CDO Umesh Dhakal had reached Dhongwasen of Tibet and Korralla of Mustang after walking four days on foot on May 29 to receive the aid. But Secretary of Local Development Ministry, Shyam Prasad Mainali, directed the team not to receive the assistance.

Sources at District Administration Office, Mustang, said the Chinese side has been irked by the act of the Local Development Ministry, though the Home Ministry had given permission to receive the aid.

Jwarchan said the government is not serious about the issue, even though China sent the materials up to the border for delivery. "It will cost at least Rs 9 million to take the materials to the districts."

A local of Chosare, Sakh Lal Gurung, said it is condemnable that the government blocked the assistance offered by China to Nepali people.
