KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The Chinese Embassy in Nepal has rejected allegations that the Chinese side failed to issue an early warning to Nepal, contributing to the loss of lives in the recent disaster in Rasuwa.

The embassy on Thursday also dismissed claims that the collapse of a geological disaster dam on the Chinese side caused major losses in Nepal.

In a statement, the embassy said an earthquake or earthquake-like glacier collapse occurred on the Nepali side on Wednesday morning, triggering massive mudslides that caused significant casualties and left people missing on both sides of the Gyirong-Rasuwagadhi border.

The embassy urged cooperation rather than blame, saying, “Accusation helps nothing, cooperation saves lives.”
