KATHMANDU, Sept. 6: CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet has said the support of a few wise and decent people is far more valuable than a crowd of millions of blind followers.
Basnet made the remarks in a social media post on Sunday, addressing Balen Shah.

“Dear Balen, the support of two to four wise and decent people is far more valuable than a crowd of millions of blind followers. A bigger crowd does not make the truth any greater,” he wrote.
Basnet also said he found it satisfying to see the reaction of people whom Shah had branded as criminals after they allegedly directed chaotic, petty and obscene comments at a woman who had lost everything simply for expressing dissatisfaction with the government.
“There is no way it would not be amusing to see the condition of these ‘living dead’ after Balen himself branded them criminals for showering chaotic, petty and obscene comments on a woman who lost everything merely for expressing dissatisfaction with the government,” Basnet wrote.
He added that the “most amusing” part was that these supporters might still be busy liking, commenting and sharing posts without understanding that Shah’s remarks could also implicate them.
“They may still be busy with likes, comments and shares without even understanding that Balen has also called himself a ‘criminal’. After all, when did these people ever become supporters by reading and understanding things? No wonder they are ‘living dead’,” he said.
