KATHMANDU, Feb 27: The Department of Immigration (DoI) has made it mandatory for Nepali citizens traveling abroad for tourism or other visit purposes to fill out a self-declaration form before arriving at the immigration desk.
Issuing a notice, the DoI requested that Nepali citizens traveling overseas for tours, visits, or tourism complete the self-declaration form in advance prior to presenting themselves at immigration.

According to Section 3.1 (d) of the Immigration Procedures, 2065, Nepali citizens traveling abroad for tourism or other visit purposes must present a passport valid for at least six months, a visa of the destination country specifying the purpose of travel, an air ticket, and a duly filled and signed self-declaration form to obtain departure clearance from immigration.
Previously, travelers were filling out the self-declaration form inside the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport. However, the DoI stated that many passengers were reluctant to fill out the form, unfamiliar with the process, or arrived at the desk with blank forms, causing delays and inconvenience to other travelers. The new arrangement has been introduced to reduce congestion and streamline immigration procedures.
