The District Police Office, Gulmi, said a police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Baburam Shrestha from the Purti Ghat Police Post had been deployed to the site after receiving information about the landslide.

Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Bir Bishwakarma said preparations were underway to clear the debris in coordination with Kaligandaki Rural Municipality.

The road blockage has left vehicles and passengers travelling between Gulmi and Palpa, Butwal, Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi and Pokhara stranded midway.

Police said it could take some time to clear the landslide as rocks and dry debris continue to fall from the hillside.
