KATHMANDU, March 30: Employees demanding bribes from construction firms are now under monitoring, following discussions with the Minister of Physical Infrastructure, Sunil Lamsal.
Minister Lamsal requested construction entrepreneurs to report any employees demanding bribes. Speaking to a delegation from the Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) that had come to congratulate him at the ministry, he assured that any employees involved in soliciting bribes would be brought under legal action. He also advised construction firms to maintain the quality of their work and avoid negligence.

Following the discussion with Minister Lamsal, the federation issued a circular to all its members.
The circular stated: “Construction entrepreneurs are instructed not to give any extra fees to government officials at any level in relation to ongoing projects. Should any government official demand such fees, the construction entrepreneur is requested to immediately inform the Honorable Minister so that legal action can be taken against the officials in accordance with prevailing law. All member construction firms are hereby requested to follow this directive accordingly.”
