KATHMANDU, Oct 3: Five of the six people killed in a bus crash at Daunne along the East-West Highway in Nawalparasi (East) on Friday morning have been identified.
The deceased have been identified as Nirjung Khatri, 50, of Bheriganga Municipality-3, Jajarkot; Dipendra KC, 32, of Kohalpur Municipality-3, Banke; Narendraraj Giri, 65, of Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality, Bajura; Yakendra Raj Regmi, 55, of Kohalpur Municipality-10, Banke; and Krish Kanoujia, 22, of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-7.
One killed, six injured in bus accident caused by landslide
Police said the identity of the sixth victim, a man, is yet to be established.
The bus, bearing a registration number Province 3-01-006 Kha 1553 en route to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj, crashed at S Mod in Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality-2 after the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn into a drain.
There were 18 people, including the driver, on board. Six people died, 10 were injured and two escaped unhurt, police said.
