PARBAT, Oct 4: Floods and landslides have displaced 300 families across Parbat district, completely destroying 170 houses and partially damaging another 131.
According to the District Administration Office, settlements in six of the district’s seven local units have suffered damage.

Jaljala Rural Municipality has been hit hardest, with 113 houses severely damaged and another 58 at risk of landslides. A total of 171 families have been displaced in Jaljala alone.
Chief District Officer Ganga Bahadur Chhetri said two houses were completely destroyed in Kushma Municipality, 20 in Phalewas Municipality, nine in Bihadi Rural Municipality, two in Mahashila Rural Municipality and 15 in Modi Rural Municipality. Across the district, 131 houses suffered partial damage.
The floods and landslides have also damaged five school buildings, agricultural farms, temples, health facilities and police posts.
A suspension bridge connecting Parbat and Baglung and the Maldhunga bridge along the Mid Hill Highway have also sustained damage.
Many rural roads across the district remain blocked. Chhetri said it could take several more days to reopen the Phalewas Bihadi and Lunkhudeurali Huwas roads along the Kaligandaki Corridor.
The local administration, local governments, the Nepal Red Cross Society and various social organizations have been providing relief supplies to families displaced by the disasters.
The assistance includes tarpaulins, food, cooking utensils, bedding, sanitation supplies and medical materials.
