KATHMANDU, May 17: Foreign Minister (FM) Dr Arzu Rana urged Qatar's Special Envoy for Climate Change and Sustainability from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take further initiatives to improve the situation of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi and facilitate his release.
During a meeting on Friday with Badar Omar Ismail Al Daffas, Qatar's Special Envoy, who came to Kathmandu to participate in the Sagarmatha Dialogue, Dr Rana made this request. They discussed Bipin Joshi's condition after Hamas abducted him.

Dr Rana thanked Qatar for its ongoing efforts to secure Bipin Joshi's release and repatriation. He also urged Qatar to continue its persistent efforts and to intensify initiatives to free him. Earlier, Dr Rana had repeatedly urged Qatar's Foreign Minister and the chief mediator in the Israel-Hamas peace talks to take necessary steps for Bipin's release.
Since 2023, Dr. Rana has appealed to the international community to support securing the release and safe return of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, whom Hamas has held hostage. Additionally, during Friday's meeting, Dr Rana thanked Qatar for participating in the Sagarmatha Sambad and discussed potential future cooperation to reduce the impacts of climate change.
