The arrests follow recommendations made by a probe commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki, which was formed to investigate the protests that took place on September 8-9. The probe commission had held then prime minister Oli, then home minister Lekhak, and other officials in positions of responsibility accountable, recommending legal action against them.
Both leaders were taken into custody on Saturday morning based on the probe commission’s findings.
