KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Former Gandaki Province Minister Rajiv Gurung, popularly known as Deepak Manange, has joined the Nepali Congress.
Manange joined the party’s establishment-opposition faction led by former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday.

According to the secretariat of Shashank Koirala, coordinator of a committee formed to prepare for the Nepali Congress’s 15th general convention, Koirala formally welcomed Manange to the party.
Manange has also been assigned to coordinate the faction’s preparations for the general convention in Manang district, according to Koirala’s secretariat.
Manange was previously elected to the Gandaki Province Assembly as an independent candidate from Manang. He also served as a minister in the Gandaki provincial government.
He had remained active in independent political activities before joining the Nepali Congress. With his entry into the party, he has also joined preparations for its upcoming general convention.
