KATHMANDU, July 12: Former President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on Friday launched the book ‘Satsang Diksha’ at a program in the capital, highlighting the need to blend spirituality and science to strengthen Nepal’s cultural identity and promote global harmony.

Speaking at the event organized jointly by the Hanumandhoka Durbar Museum Development Committee and the Swaminarayan Sanstha Nepal, Yadav said that ancient Sanatan Dharma and Eastern civilization have played a crucial role in deepening religious, cultural, and people-to-people ties between Nepal and India. “We must work with a deep understanding of our culture, traditions, and society. This fosters peace, coexistence, and brotherhood, and contributes to the welfare of the world,” he said.

The Satsang Diksha, a book translated from Sanskrit, was described as a spiritual guide connecting timeless teachings with modern values. Emphasizing the role of spirituality in nation-building, Yadav said it was essential to move forward by combining spiritual wisdom with scientific outlook.

Sadhu Bhadresh Das Swami, representing the Swaminarayan tradition, said that Nepal's Muktinath region—where Lord Nilkanth performed penance—is not only a sacred site but also a globally significant destination for religious tourism. He remarked that Sanatan Dharma has exemplified values such as love, devotion, and harmony among people.

He added that Sanskrit, which connects Nepal and India, serves as a shared cultural foundation and that language, attire, cuisine, and traditions form the unique identity of a nation.

Former lawmaker Shankar Prasad Pandey echoed the sentiment, describing Nepal's Rishi tradition as a matter of national pride and religious and cultural tourism as a pillar of prosperity. He expressed confidence that Satsang Diksha would contribute to global peace, goodwill, and human welfare.

Youth leader and scholar Shankar Tiwari said Nepal is a sacred land filled with spiritual sites stretching from the Himalayas to the Tarai. He expressed confidence that the book would help connect the new generation with spiritual values and foster a balanced outlook on life.

The 111-page book Satsang Diksha elaborates on the importance of spiritual association (satsang) and encourages readers to devote time to satsang and devotional music (bhajan), while avoiding laziness and distraction.  RSS
