Four NC lawmakers defeated in Banke representative poll

NEPALGUNJ, Feb 6: Four lawmakers have faced a defeat in the selection of representatives held for the upcoming 13th General Convention of the Nepali Congress.

NC lawmakers Abdul Hamid Siddhique, Maikulal Balmiki and Arbatara Khanam of constituency-3 and Asha BK of constituency-4 have been defeated.

Muktilal-BalmikiMaikulal who fought for constituency-3, representing dalit quota, was defeated by former lawmaker Krishna Singh Pariyar. Pariya obtained 91 votes while Maikula got only 70 votes. Similarly, Siddhique had become a lawmaker representing Madhesi Muslim quota was defeated by youth leader Niza Muddhin. Niza Muddhin beat Siddhique with 91 votes against 29.

In constituency-4, Jhukmaya GM and Chinumaya Kunwar defeated lawmaker BK. Jhukmaya and Chinumaya got 69 and 66 votes respectively while BK got only 56 votes. Both the elected representatives are from Deuba faction.
