Funds raised for rebuilding school

KHOTANG, Feb 8: A Facebook campaign launched by Nepali migrant workers in Malaysia has collected Rs 1,16,000 for reconstruction of quake-devastated school in Khotang district. Chisang Sherpa, a local of Khotang, who is currently working in Malaysia, has raised Rs 46,124 for the reconstruction of Nava Jyoti Primary School, Khotang from the members of a facebook group chat. Another similar Facebook initiative, coordinated by Rabin Sherpa in Quatar, has collected Rs 70,000 so far. School Management Committee Chairperson Dilli Ram Tamang said that the funds raised through the initiatives of Nepali youth migrant will be utilized for the reconstruction of school building, purchasing stationeries, teachers' salaries and awareness raising, among others. Nava Jyoti Primary School, established seven years ago, runs classes up to grade three.  
The Nepali migrant workers said they are expanding their Facebook initiative for collecting funds to other Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia.
