Gagan Thapa elected NC president with 6,584 votes

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: Gagan Kumar Thapa has been elected president of the Nepali Congress (NC), securing 6,584 votes in the party’s 15th General Convention.

His rival, Shyam Krishna Khadgi, received 375 votes, while 54 ballots were declared invalid. Of the 7,317 convention representatives, 7,039 cast their votes.


Vote counting for other office-bearer positions will begin Saturday afternoon at the party’s central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur, following a meeting with candidates for vice-president and general secretary scheduled for 1 pm.
