KATHMANDU, Jan 4: The investigation commission formed to probe the incidents related to the recent Gen Z protests has sent a formal letter summoning former prime minister KP Sharma Oli to record his statement.
Oli, who has publicly denied appearing before the commission, has now been officially asked to testify. The move comes after the commission, led by former justice Gauri Bahadur Karki, completed the statement of then home minister Ramesh Lekhak and other former Prime Ministers including Sher Bahadur Deuba and Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

The commission has already recorded statements from Lekhak, senior security officials of all four security agencies in the country, and the then chief district officer of Kathmandu. The probe commission was formed by the government on October 6 with former Nepal Police AIG Bigyan Raj Sharma and legal expert Bishweshwor Prasad Bhandari as members.
Initially given a three-month mandate, the commission’s tenure was extended by an additional month after it failed to complete its investigation within the original timeframe.
