KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment Gita Chaudhary has approved the distribution of more than Rs 1.5 billion in subsidies to sugarcane farmers.
Chaudhary approved the procedure governing the distribution of incentive subsidies provided to sugarcane producers.
Homestay not attracted by subsidy
A total of Rs 1.5005 billion allocated for the current fiscal year 2083/84 will be distributed among sugarcane farmers in various districts, including Bardiya, Rautahat, Kailali and Kanchanpur.
The government has been implementing the subsidy program to encourage sugarcane cultivation, increase agricultural productivity and ensure that financial support reaches eligible farmers effectively.
Under the program, the government provides sugarcane farmers with an incentive subsidy of Rs 70 per quintal.
