Nau had escaped from the jail with the help of an accomplice who was waiting for him outside the jail entrance. According to Pudasaini, both the probe committees have started investigation.
“Currently we are interrogating the jail staffers and officials on duty. We hope this will help us establish as to how the inmate fled the jail,” said Pudasaini.
Khemraj Khatri, who was guarding the jail entrance when the inmate escaped from the jail, has been suspended, said Pudasaini. “Action will also be taken against other jail staffers if they are found to have abetted the jailbreak,” he added.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Prem Bahadur Basnet shared that security has been beefed up inside the jail after the jailbreak.
Nau, who was serving 20-year term for murder, had already completed half of his term in jail.
