KATHMANDU, June 19: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that monsoon winds are affecting most parts of the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some areas of all provinces.
In an update issued today, the department said that a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall this afternoon.
Heavy rain forecast in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki areas
Light rain or snowfall is also expected in a few areas of the high hilly and Himalayan regions.
Tonight, most of the country will have partly to generally cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few areas of other provinces.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely in a few places in Koshi, Madhes, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Light rain or snowfall is expected in a few areas of high hills and mountainous regions.
Currently, monsoon winds are affecting parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and the eastern areas of Lumbini. There is also a partial influence of westerly and local winds in western Nepal. A low-pressure system near West Bengal, India, is also having a partial effect on Nepal’s weather, the department added
