Home Minister’s reply on Resham Chaudhary arrest due on May 8

KATHMANDU, May 6: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has issued a ruling to the government to respond to the issues raised in Parliament by the lawmakers.



In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, lawmakers from the Janamat Party and the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) raised their concerns and demanded that the government furnish a reply regarding the arrest of party patron Resham Chaudhary on April 30. The MPs stood up in protest, prompting the Speaker to issue a decree to the government.

Janamat Party MP Abdul Khan stated that the proceedings of the House could not continue until the government provided a clear response regarding the arrest of the NUP patron Chaudhary.


Speaker Ghimire, in response, said that Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak would reply to the House on May 8. The House proceedings resumed after the Speaker’s ruling. 


The Budget Session of the House is currently discussing the government's annual policy and program for the fiscal year 2025/26,  which was presented to a joint session of the Federal Parliament on May 2.
