CHITWAN, Aug 30: The floodwaters that entered the Trishuli River from the Bhotekoshi River in the morning have now receded as they reach Chitwan. The floodwaters crossed Mugling at 7:00 AM along the Trishuli.
According to Hydrologist Sachit Karmacharya at the Flood Forecasting Division, water flow in the Trishuli has increased by 3-3.5 meters from its flow prior to the flood. After today’s flood mixed with the Narayani, he estimates that the flow will increase by 2-2.5 meters. He said that there is no need to panic as the flow at the Devghat hydrological station on the Narayani River before the flood was six meters and that the water level at that location would be dangerous once it reaches nine meters.
However, he urged people living along the river’s coastal areas to remain alert as the water level is higher than before.

Meanwhile, Chitwan Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Subash Bhatta informed that the Prithvi Highway has been blocked after the road at Krishnabhir eroded. He said that vehicles travelling from Chitwan to the Prithvi Highway have been stopped at safe locations.
DSP Bhatta stated that with the news that the Bhotekoshi had flooded again, the roads that were closed at 4:00 AM and opened at 7:00 AM have been closed again.
