KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) last week increased 87.73 points (3.43 percent) as investors restored their confidence towards the country’s secondary market to inject their money after the government came up with a number of reform measures related to the share market.
The secondary market opened for trading at 2,559.49 points and closed at 2,647.22 points. During the period, the market rose as high as 2,679.90 points and fell as low as 2,556.90 points, marking the volatility of 123 points.
This is the second consecutive week that the stock exchange market posted gains after reeling under the downfall for a number of weeks. In the previous week, the market increased 16.72 points (0.66 percent).

During the review period, the market witnessed a correction of 21.19 points on Wednesday. In the remaining four days, the market index inclined up, while the largest surge of 48.57 points was recorded on Tuesday.
Sector-wise, all the 13 groups were the gainers. Life insurance jumped the largest of 649.36 points (5.75 percent). By adding 0.17 points (0.87 percent) in its market value, mutual funds were the least gainer.
Among the individual companies, the share price of Infinity Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha gained 22.41 percent. Hathway Investment lost the most by 17.93 percent.
The average daily turnover increased to Rs 6.123 billion from Rs 4.098 billion, marking a growth of 49.41 percent. Market capitalization also increased to Rs 4.553 trillion Rs 4.402 trillion, providing the investors with capital gains of Rs 150.9 billion in their book value. In the previous week, the investors gained Rs 29 billion.
