Shyam Pariyar, 35 of Bhalayadanda-3 committed suicide inside the prison lavatory, informed the prison authority. [break]
According to Mukunda Dhakal, prison chief, Pariyar took a knife and got inside the lavatory around 9:30 am, after having his lunch and slashed his throat killing himself.
His body has been sent to District Hospital, Gaighat for post mortem.
The reason behind his suicide is yet to be ascertained.
After the preliminary investigation police are assuming it to be a case of suicide, informed Police Inspector Narendra Upreti, chief of District Police Office.
The investigation on the matter is underway.
