KATHMANDU, Feb 24: In a gesture underscoring seven decades of friendship, the Government of Japan has pledged support for Nepal’s upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election.
The assistance, provided through counterpart funds generated under Japan’s Food Assistance Projects, will help strengthen Nepal’s electoral process, according to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Nepal.

With the general election set for March 5, the Government of Nepal has been allocated Rs 397.5 million from the fund. The amount will be used to upgrade election management software, train election officials, and carry out voter education programs aimed at ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process.
This year also marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Nepal. Over the years, the two countries have built a close partnership through cooperation in development, infrastructure, education, and governance.
The Embassy of Japan expressed confidence that the continued collaboration would not only support Nepal’s democratic process but also further deepen the longstanding ties between the two nations.
